Nice flight on a Boeing Stearman PT-13 from 1940!

They have a Boeing Stearman PT-13 from 1940 in perfect conditions (as well as a YAKOVLEV YAK-11 from 1952), and you can have a test flight in them.

Wonderful experience, definitely worth a try!

Their website is

Friendly airport

I’ve never seen so many people hanging out at a GA field!

Picture of wolfgangx

Agree on the hard to find

I also could not easily find this airport until I was right over it

Picture of shumphries

Smoothest asphalt around!

Landed here tonight just to see what this airport was all about. Name probably comes in part from the golf course just to the north of the field. Smoothest runway ever.

Welcome to CYPD

Celtic Air took over operating CYPD three years ago. Commercial aircraft ramp fees vary from 200.00 to 400.00, commercial landing fees top out based on MTOW at about 85.00 for a Challenger 350. Private aircraft can expect up to a 25.00 landing fee. Given that the airport exists solely on these fees, we hope everyone can manage with them. Call us at 902-625-2206 if you have any questions.

Great controller

Dealt with a storm popping up over the field right before takeoff, when we finally did depart the controllers really helped navigate the cells

Birds everywhere!

Lots of wildlife on the runway in July. Be prepared.

No idea why these comments are so negative

Great airport running a great training operation. Well maintained facilities and aircraft, great prices and great staff to back it all up.

Great stuff!

Gassed up here on the way from KTEX to Houston. Super folks!

Stopped here today (6/30/20) to ask Smiling Aviation to handle a ferry permit sign-off for me. They could not have been more fun or more professional. I learned a lot (as a pilot not a mechanic) watching them work. The runway is great, and the gas was cheap. Will be back!

Narrow runway!

the paved part of this runway was only 21' wide!

Old Chinle Airport

This is the heading for the old (closed) and private Chinle Airport (04AZ), not the newer Chinle Municipal (E91).

On the site of former Kona Village Resort Airport.

You are welcome sir!

The correct designation for the airport is as follows:

(Al Ain Airport Ain District, Shabwah Governorate)

Please amend your previous name

Old Landing Strip

Shows up on 1970s-era topo maps and old runway still visible on satellite, but very little info available. Any further information on this obscure landing strip would be appreciated.

Picture of animebirder

No heliport at location.

PIma County Sheriff's Department airborne operations seem to have moved completely to KTUS -- sensible, PCSO HQ being basically sandwiched between the flight paths of KTUS and KDMA probably made this location untenable in the long run.

Picture of animebirder

Since all the FAA databases seem to be 10-12 years behind on heliports, it's probably a good idea to leave this up here so people *know* it's closed, instead of removing this and leaving only the inaccurate, old information online on other sites as Google hits. Also, it was inaccurately plotted to begin with (protip: always cross-check owner addresses on heliport listings!).

Formerly Orlando Hyatt House, Orlando Sun Resort, Ramada Orlando Celebration Resort. This property is now closed and derelict.

re: Al Ain Airport Ain District, Shabwa Governorate, Yemen

Reply to @Abdullah_Almosaabi: Thank you. Is this actually a duplicate of ?

Picture of animebirder

Bowie International?

Labeled as "Bowie International Airport" on Google Maps, but I can find no evidence this was ever actually called this other than as a local in joke.

Picture of animebirder

Per Disney...

It *is* technically open, but only for emergency use.

Picture of animebirder

Listed owner deceased 2000, no sign of aviation activity here in the last 20 years.

Picture of animebirder

Bring me the head of John the Baptist!

This is actually the 1930s Salome CAA Intermediate Field, resurrected in the late 2010s as an emergency airfield for GA pilots! Neat to see what was effectively a forgotten archaeological site return to current use.

Picture of animebirder

I thought this was closed...

But there's YouTube videos of activity here from 2015-2019. Pretty fascinating rebirth of a 1950s airstrip!

Picture of animebirder

Miho Airfield

Set aside for emergency use by the Japanese government; no GA or commercial flights allowed.

Picture of animebirder

Fantasy of Flight

Better known as Fantasy of Flight. In addition to the visible turf runways, there are also seaplane operations here.

Picture of animebirder

Silverbell Notes

When I was here in the oughts, it primarily housed AH-64Ds for US ANG and Singapore AF units -- the Singaporeans train here as there's not exactly a ton of room to have a training base out in Singapore.

Picture of animebirder

Gila River Memories

I used to ride my bike here as a kid in the late 80s/early 90s to see the old Biegert Aviation C-130s come in. Sad to see this airport fall into disuse and disrepair. Those DC-6s and hangars deserved so much better than to be turned into tinder for meth heads.

Picture of animebirder

Walt Disney World / Lake Buena Vista STOLport -- still here,

One of the advantages of being a Walt Disney World Cast Member was being able to access the old airport grounds. The runway is still in use, but not for aviation; it's a vehicle storage facility for Disney. You'll have to go to Castaway Cay to find an active airport on Disney property nowadays (2020).

Picture of animebirder

RJBH now helicopter only.

All fixed-wing operations ceased here in 2013. Helicopters only since 2014. Now has alternate name of Hiroshima Heliport.

Picture of animebirder

First to comment on RJOA!

Now that Hiroshima-Nishi is closed to all but limited helicopter traffic, this is the closest airport to Hiroshima. Pretty nice back in 2005 last time I was here (on my 2017 and 2019 visits we took the Shinkansen instead).

It's in the mountains so you definitely don't want to overrun ...

Loved this place!

Lover the air strip and the accomodations. Took a photo there that's the home page of my web site,

Picture of shumphries

Sad to see it go!

This was one of the first cross-countries I made after earning my license in 1992. Looks like it closed shortly thereafter. You can read about it here:

Picture of DmitriitheRus

Closed Airport

Do you see those crosses on runway? They're mean "That's closed airport!"

Nice small airport

Great island with two resturants and bars. Also campground.

No more public air transport

After the opening of the new King Mswati III International Airport in September 2014, it only serves royal movements, flights of the Eswatini Government, and mercy flights.

Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport attaches equal importance to passenger and cargo transportation. While developing domestic and international passenger transportation, the airport is making efforts to expand its cargo transportation services inside and outside of China. We strive to become a super cargo transportation airport in South China by strengthening our strategic cooperation with other airports, airlines, freight forwarders, and customers. We also strive to improve our software and hardware facilities for cargo transportation, and establish a cargo transportation network platform that covers the Pearl River Delta area. As of May 30, 2019, we have opened cargo flights to 35 destination cities in total (19 domestic, 15 international, and 1 regional).

Service Purposes

Create a neutral, fair, efficient, and orderly freight service platform

We highly value neutrality and impartiality and use these in establishing a model logistics company, an express supervision center, an international cargo terminal (jointly ventured with Lufthansa), and a cargo terminal and bonded logistics center. We provide basic operations services, public operations venues, and warehouses for agents. We promote customs reform and innovation, the improvement of infrastructure, and strive to continuously enhance our service quality and operation efficiency in order to satisfy our cargo service customers.

I. Domestic and International Air Transportation Services

Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport provides import and export transportation services around the world and air transport services to every city in China. It has been deemed "an air cargo and express distribution center in South China" by Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).

II. Air-to-Air, Land-to-Air, and Air-to-Land Transit Services

Goods transported by air to Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport from a foreign country or region can be transported by air or truck to cities in mainland China. Goods transported by truck to Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport from Hong Kong can be transported by air or truck to cities in mainland China. The customs clearance for transit is simple, cost-effective, and efficient.

III. International and Domestic Express Services

Shenzhen Airport International Express Customs Supervision Center ("Expressup") provides a smooth customs clearance environment for customs, inspection and quarantine authorities, and express enterprises. It creates an efficient service platform for air logistics and express operations at the Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport. Currently, Expressup provides international express clearance services for 20 express enterprises. It is the only air and land express port in Shenzhen.

IV. Bonded Logistics Services

The Bonded Logistics Center of Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport, located in Phase I, provides the following services: 1. Bonded warehousing; 2. International logistics distribution; 3. Simple processing and value-added services for circulation; 4. Import and transit trade; 5. Deep processing transit and tax refunds upon arrival at the Center.

The Center enjoys special supervision policies: 1. For goods staying in the Center less than one day, the entry and exit procedures can be handled simultaneously without the need to unload goods. 2. Customs clearance for transfer-in and transfer-out is performed in a centralized manner. 3. Customs supervision stations within the airport can be allocated at free. 4. Simple processing services can be filed in advance, avoiding the trouble of approving tickets one by one.

The Center has the following advantages: 1. It provides customs clearance services for goods 24 hours a day, all year round. 2. It takes 5 minutes to reach the main transportation network and 30 minutes to reach the road ports. 3. It provides a simplified customs clearance mode for goods transported to or from Hong Kong. 4. It provides a diversified service system that supports transportation by air, land and sea.

V. Customs Clearance Services

Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport is one of the airports in Mainland China with the most complete services and the most convenient customs environment.

1. It supports 24 hours customs clearance all year round. 2. All customs processes can be finished within the logistics building. 3. It provides customs clearance for goods transported by air, land, and sea. 4. Customs clearance is simplified for goods transited between Shenzhen and Hong Kong and these goods are exempted from inspection at the Huanggang Port. 5. Tax refunds and other services are provided immediately after goods for export enter the logistics park.

VI. Value-Added Services

It provides multiple value-added services including door-to-door delivery, network DDU/DDP, dangerous product identification, customs declaration and inspection agents, cargo agent insurance, and domestic and international warehousing.

VII. Simplified Customs Clearance for Goods Transported Between Shenzhen and Hong Kong

To accelerate customs clearance for goods transported by air from Hong Kong to cities in Mainland China, Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport simplifies the customs clearance process for these goods and exempts these goods from inspection at the Huanggang Port. This allows international air cargo carriers to make full use of the facilities and ground services at Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport. It also allows for a seamless connection to international air networks in Hong Kong, thus providing quality services for cargo owners.

Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport will provide services based on your needs and will meet your demands and business development requirements.

For cargo services, see the air logistics enterprise module.
