Václav Havel Airport Prague

Václav Havel Airport Prague is the international airport of Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. The airport was founded in 1937, when it replaced the Kbely Airport. It was reconstructed and extended in 1956, 1968, 1997, and 2006. In 2012, it was renamed after the last president of Czechoslovakia and the first president of the Czech Republic, Václav Havel. It is located at the edge of the Prague-Ruzyně area, next to Kněževes village, 12 km west of the centre of Prague and 12 km southeast of the city of Kladno.

In 2018 it served around 17 million passengers. It serves as a hub for Czech Airlines and Smartwings, and as a base for Ryanair and Eurowings.

Appears closed

@Spinner reported this airport closed. Newer satellite imagery on Google shows a road running along the strip now and out both ends.

Lovely!

I was so pleasantly surprised by this airport. It's bright and clean, and the staff are very nice. A solid modern airport with an easy to follow layout - I had a 50-minute international connection and it was more than enough time to pass passport control and security and make it to the gate.

Years ago we were there and made a fligt with an Antonov A2. Now we want to land here in summertime with our own Tecnam P92 light.

closed, and yet...

According to official sources, this field is closed; however certain sources seem to indicate landing there is not completely impossible. The NON-OFFICIAL aerodrome database, edition 2015, (www.aerobaze.cz) even mentions the availability of AvGas and MoGas.

Oldest airport in the Czech Republic

According to Wikipedia, this is the oldest airport in the Czech Republic, built during World War I by the Austro-Hungarian empire, then used by the Germans in World War II for an aircraft factory. In 1918, when Czechoslovakia was created, it was the country's only airport. The city bought it from the military in 2004.
