Runway 09/27
Runway 09/27 has been closed for more than three years and the city as no plans to reopen it. In fact, they will begin to build new hangers and taxiways east of Kilo taxiway sometime in 2017.
Brooks AFB
Strange that Brooks AFB, just accross the river from this field, is not mentioned on the map ( with a cross ).
More NDB Errors
MF 388 kHz moved to 330 kHz Oct 2010
There is was a private NDB here
Used to be NDB SNE 260 kHz here. Now reported to be SD same frequency Aug 2016 (miskeying? I've heard it as well as another in TX).
BarK, Rusry Alken, Lago Vista
Many of trips ferrying airplanes for repairs at Lakeview Aviation. Good airport for flying around the lake but watch out for those tricky winds and lots of deer around.
Georgetown
Despite it's beautiful name I always feel like an outsider when I land here.
Taylor
This was a really narrow short runway in the old days. Wondered sometimes if we were going to make it over the power lines on those hot summer days

Very nice facility. Very easy to clear customs. Nce pilot loung and very reasonable priced fuel
Duplicates
I've tried to close all the others. They should really be removed.
Duplicate airports
There is a lot of duplicate listings for this airport
Not working
As I know they are no longer in service the green colored that is on east side of Abram Rd was a pesticide type airport for small yellow aircrafts. The magenta colored on west side was a private landing stretch and the guy used that for his go kart type airplane those small ones that has a go kart engine type, and also I think he no longer use that stretch, that's his house property. It was nice to hear those planes on the area. I wish to see them again.
Snyder
This is a great small town airport. Friendly folks and a good mechanic.
On field restaurant
Cheap fuel. Friendly people. The diner is in the FBO/terminal building. Chrome stools at the bar. Tables with mismatched tablecloths. Big plate glass windows looking out at the ramp and runways. Sweet potato french fries and the hands-down best chicken (a flattened, seasoned, battered, fried chicken breast) sandwich I have ever eaten in my entire life. What is not to like about LFK?
No Gas

Picking someone up at Love Field in Dallas? GOOD LUCK !

Picking someone up at Love Field in Dallas? GOOD LUCK !
Worst Airport in the world to pick someone up at.
They have this Circle drive. That they wont let you stop on.
And there is no place to park.
So you can go in to check on the status of the flight you are waiting on.
Unless, you want to pay $17.00 for the parking garage.
Or you can walk about 3/4 of a mile.
From the cell phone parking lot to the terminal.
At DFW you can park for free.
Right across the street from the teriminal you are going to.
And it only cost about $2.00 in toll to go through the airport.
Love Field has a long way to go to be a modern air port.
C gate -dirty
Stained carpets, crumbs on floor, metal floor joints look like they have never been wiped, C24 is a messy germ fest at 6am on a Monday. Does anyone clean here? Gross!!!
Carswell Air Force Base
Stationed at Carswell 1986-1992 during the last years of the Cold War and the end of the Reagan presidency. The base has lots of history, from the roll-out of all the great Convair and General Dynamics aircraft across the field, to being a movie star in Strategic Air Command with Jimmy Stewart. It was a great assignment, and a wonderful area (even though the summers were just too hot!). Loved watching the sky turn black when the B-52Hs all took-off during the major exercises, followed by all the KC-135s. What a sight to behold! Also loved the impromptu airshows when GD rolled-out a new F-16 for initial flight tests right over the airfield! That always brought everyone out of their offices, and stopped Commissary & BX shoppers in their tracks to watch the performance!

TSA screening
I do not see any other place to leave any commentary about the airport experience. This was my first time outside the airport, experiencing Dallas, going through security on the return today (4 pm) we had our fingernail clippers confiscated?!! REALLY...you know you cannot disagree with the TSA agent but that guy was ignorant and stupid and probably had dirty nails...he thought it was a knife...REALLY IGNORANT... and RUDE... and after three screenings and an examination of standard fingernail clippers, he said "we will have this destroyed (melted down)" Expletives not uttered but rolling around my mind these many hours later...we will fly through Dallas and not leave the airport in the future, and buy some new fingernail clippers tomorrow.
Flickr Images of the Greater Southwest Airport (Amon Carter
Photographers who have photo images of Amon Carter Field when it was still in use during the '60's ought to consider placing them (photos) on FLICKR for enjoyment of aviation buffs. I'm sure there are some folks out there who still have pictures of this airport in Ft. Worth in their possession . It would be interesting to see what the airport operations and facilities were like back then. I was personally privileged to tour the terminal plus the concourses as well as the ramp area with a friend of mine back in mid '70's. Unfortunately, I did not have a camera with me to photograph the airfield. We had unlimited access to the concourses and ramp. There were no aircraft operations after DFW opened. I was fortunate to find an original kodachrome slide, on EBAY, taken in 1955 with a Central Airlines DC-3 parked on the south concourse. The image is in excellent condition. I'm lucky to have it in my personal collection. Today, nothing exists on the site of the terminal of historical significance. A small bit of concrete slab, part of the taxiway from the runway is still there and can be seen clearly after take off from DFW. March 27, 2014 Bob V H
My first flight
This little airport opened about 1968. They had free airplane rides. I went up with my Mom and a guy I later went to Navy boot camp with. The pilot, Mr. Charles Jones had a Cessna 172, the best I can remember. We flew over my hometown. I was kind of scared of flying, or the idea of flying, then. Got to start somewhere!
Staff
This FBO is one of the friendliest ones in we have been to in Central Texas. They are over the top in helpfulness from he line guys to the desk.
Great experience flying in and out of TME.

Quick visit
I changed planes here last Saturday on a long, multi-leg United Airlines trip from Geneva to Tucson. I didn't have much time to look around, but it wasn't too long a walk to my connection, and I had a chance to buy a smoothie on the way. Most food places were still open Saturday evening, which was nice.
Yes, it's legit.
The FAA thinks there is an private airstrip here. There are literally thousands of private airstrips in the United States, and many of them don't look like much on Google Maps.
Really?
I don't see any airport. Austinia was a town on Dollar Point in what is now Texas City several miles from here.
Flew in and visited TX42
Wow, they have a paved runway and taxiway and hangars being built and a lot of activity, friendly people.

Photos of Greater Southwest International Airport, Fort wort
For anyone looking for photos of the Amon Carter Airport (Greater Southwest Int'l Airport) Check with the Univ. of Texas library, SPECIAL COLLECTIONS up on the 2nd floor. The photos were primarily taken by the Ft. Worth Star Telegram and donated to the library. The photos are mostly black and white. They are excellent! I can atest to that. I visited the library about a year ago and was pleasantly surprized at what they have available. Photos can be purchased at $10 per print. Unless you have another outside source, this collection is by far the best I've ever seen. Check them out.
Airport is closed.
